Services at Dudley's Place

Nutrition & Food Assistance

At Dudley’s Place we understand that food insecurity and lack of knowledge around nutrition can be a huge barrier to proper care.  We work closely with helping you set appointments with our registered dietitian that is on site several days a week for your convenience.  In addition, we can help make you certified referrals to Loaves and Fishes food pantries around the Charlotte area, as well as making recommendations to other resources.  When all other resources have been exhausted, we can also offer emergency grocery cards for local stores to help you supplement your shopping needs.

Essentials Pantry

We also understand that shopping on a budget can be adversely affected when you must spend limited dollars on things like personal care items.  Dudley’s Place has an essential pantry on site that stocks some of those essentials such as shampoo, body soap, laundry soap, etc.  Every forty-five days a client can be eligible to pick up these items at our office.  We hope that by limiting the need to purchase higher ticket personal items, we will help your shopping budget be more focused on food.

Couch Talks

Our version of a social support group for HIV positive individuals. The group meets on scheduled evenings throughout each month here at the office.  In most cases the group is facilitated by a HIV positive staffer whenever possible.

The groups are a safe space to share, connect, reflect, and support one another. We feel and it is our desire that this will encourage more open dialogue and communication in our communities around issues related to HIV/AIDS.

Transportation Services

Being able to get to and from appointments also cause many clients trouble.  Keeping your appointments is essential to remaining in care and being compliant with your healthcare regimen.  As Ryan White patients already have access to transportation to appointments, we understand that the need may arise for other clients to sometimes need a ride; and even Ryan White patients may need necessary a ride that Ryan White does not cover.  In these cases, Dudley’s Place has set up an account with Lyft ride sharing services to accommodate these requests.  If you have questions about eligibility please contact one of our staff.

Friends of Dudley

Finding someone else that is “walking the same path” in terms of your diagnosis can be hard sometimes.  Family and friends, even at the best of times, can not always understand your situation.  Dudley’s Place has established a program that is called Friends of Dudley.  This program works to “connect” like individuals with HIV so that they can work one on one with each other to have a companion on their healthcare journey.  It may be ride sharing, appointment buddies, someone to do social activities with, or just that one person to lend an ear when you need it.

Linkage to Care

With the resources and partnerships that Dudley’s Place  has with Rosedale Health and Wellness and with other agencies in the community, we are almost sure to be able to link you to the proper outlet for medical care, prescription assistance, or other necessary services that you may need as part of your medical journey.
